THE BLACKEYED SUSANS LAUNCH NEW SINGLE 'LOVER OR THE LOVED' AT ANNUAL MELBOURNE CHRISTMAS SHOWS.
'LOVER OR THE LOVED' OUT FRIDAY 2 DECEMBER
13 November 2016
The Blackeyed Susans announce the release of their new single 'Lover or the Loved' on Friday 2 December. The new single will be official launched at their annual Christmas shows on Friday 16 December at the Caravan Music Club, Oakleigh (joined by The Thin White Ukes) and Saturday 17 December at Spotted Mallard, Brunswick (with Special Guest Angie Hart). They also play a family friendly matinee show on Sunday 18 December at Spotted Mallard, (again joined by The Thin White Ukes)
'Lover or the Loved' is the first release from The Blackeyed Susans long awaited new album 'Close Your Eyes and See', out in 2017. Against a backdrop of pulsating rhythms and curling guitar lines, the song explores the dynamics of love. It's classic Susans, with Rob Snarski crooning his way through a Phil Kakulas lyric that asks more questions than it answers:
Are you the lover or the loved?
Are you the one below or the one above?
Are you the one who loves too much or not enough?
Are you the lover or the loved?
We all want to be loved, right? Well, The Susans aren't so sure. Engulfed by a starless sky and imbued with an existential ache, Lover or the Loved builds towards a somewhat surprising and compelling conclusion. We can't wait for the album. Amidst the tinsel and the Christmas lights, The Susans will play sneak previews from the forthcoming album, as well as the best of their back catalogue and some choice Christmas classics too. Come and celebrate the birth of little baby Jesus in style with The Blackeyed Susans this December!

Blackeyed Susans Christmas shows
12 November 2013
Hi Folks, Well last year we made it to Perth, the year before Sydney... this year we head off to the wilds of Oakleigh to The Caravan Music Club before our stellar show at The Thornbury Theatre. Come one, come all.
The Blackeyed Susans return for their annual Christmas shows on Friday December 13th at the Caravan Music Club (with special guests Sweet Jean) and Saturday 14th December at The Thornbury Theatre (with Sweet Jean and JP Shilo with Rosie Westbrook). There’ll be Christmas songs sad and sweet and shiny, shiny Christmas lights plus the best of the Susans' extensive back catalogue. So join The Blackeyed Susans as they celebrate the birth of little baby Jesus with their biggest Christmas show yet.
Declared 'National Treasures' by Rolling Stone magazine, The Blackeyed Susans have built an international reputation for their darkly romantic music. Over the past twenty odd years they have toured the world, played with the likes of Johnny Cash and Leonard Cohen and released countless albums, singles, vinyl and CDs.
The Blackeyed Susans have spent much of the recent past working on new material for release in 2014. Lead singer, Rob Snarski has also been putting the finishing touches to his new solo album, while the rest of the band have been busy with various side projects and collaborations.
A tradition now for many years, The Blackeyed Susans' Christmas show returns to The Thornbury Theatre and debuts at the Caravan Music Club in 2013 complete with full band (plus Mr. 'Evil' Graham Lee on pedal steel), a clutch of Christmas songs and a swag of shiny Christmas lights and decorations. Come celebrate the festive season in style with The Blackeyed Susans this December.

We haven't played Christmas shows in Perth for a long, long while and look forward to seeing some old familiar faces.

Thanks again for your support throughout 2012. On the surface it may have seemed like a quiet year for The Susans but behind the scenes we have been busy (promise!), mostly working on new material for release in 2013. Rob Snarski and Dan Luscombe have also been putting the finishing touches to their next CD, while the rest of the band have been working on various projects and collaborations.
With band members so busy, full band shows have been rare this year, which only serves to make these Christmas shows that bit more special as we’ll have (just about) the full compliment of Susans and Triffid ‘Evil’ Graham Lee on pedal steel to boot. So, come celebrate the birth of little Baby Jesus in style with The Blackeyed Susans this December.

The Union in June
7 May 2012
The Blackeyed Susans Trio return to The Union Hotel in Brunswick for a 5 week residency in June. The Union shows are always incredibly popular - and of course they're free! The Trio will play 2 sets each Saturday evening in June, on stage from 5pm through to 7pm. Come along for a drink or two, a tasty meal and some great music.
Snarski vs Snarski in Perth
2 April 2012
The Snarski brothers return to WA to perform for the first time as Snarski vs Snarski. Although the brothers have performed in this guise around the country it's the first time they'll perform SvS in their old hometown where their musical journey began with the stark and literate offerings from Chad's Tree.
Mark went on to form The Jackson Code and now The Nearly Bros and we all know Rob sings with The Blackeyed Susans. So the brothers go head to head mixing up their musical past, present and future, testing their musical memory banks and each others patience.
Rarely together in the same country, let alone on the same stage and never before in WA. When too much Snarski is never enough... Two sets, no supports. Be afraid.
